Tri-Seal
International, Inc.
Tri-Seal International, Inc. is a
Blauvelt, New York-based company that is a leader in the
design and manufacture of sophisticated thermoplastic
extruded and co-extruded capliners and seals marketed
under the Tri-Seal, Tri-Gard and Tri-Shield trademarks,
among other. It is one of the largest independent
manufacturers of closure liners in the US and is a
recognized leader of such products in the food,
beverage, pharmaceutical, medical, cosmetic, household
and industrial chemical, automotive, marine and
electronic industries.
The Company’s high-quality, patented
cap
liners are used in either plastic or metal closures to
form a seal to prevent leakage, evaporation, or product
tampering. Tri-Seal’s liners are an essential element in
the packaging of many household, consumer and industrial
products such as Clorox, Wisk, Windex, and
Tropicana.
The Company’s name originated from a patented,
triple-layer sealing process that can be adapted for a
wide range of packaging applications. Tri-Seal’s
original patented closure liner product, named Tri-Seal
F-217, is an industry standard for sealing products
ranging from corrosive acids to beverages. The seal is a
co-extruded structure of low-density polyethylene foam
core sandwiched between two layers of LDPE film.
Tri-Seal was acquired in January 1999
by a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tekni-Plex. Tekni-Plex,
Inc. is a global, diversified manufacturer of packaging
products and materials for the healthcare, consumer, and
food packaging industries. Tekni-Plex is a privately
held company, with 28 manufacturing facilities worldwide
and approximately 2,800 employees.
Tri-Seal President and Chief
Operating Officer Bruce Burns added that "as part of a
well capitalized, forward looking company like
Tekni-Plex, we can offer customers a growing
international presence in both manufacturing and
marketing. This technology-driven parent will further
enhance Tri-Seal’s ability to deliver the most advanced
products in the industry.
Tekni-Plex
Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer, Dr. F. Patrick Smith, stated that
"this acquisition will dramatically extend our product
offerings in the closure liner industry. Tri-Seal adds
highly complementary technology to our traditional
laminated closure liner business, as well as our
dispenser gasket product lines. In fact, our European
operations have been a licensee of Tri-Seal technology
for years. Another significant benefit will be the
addition of experienced Tri-Seal managers, who will play
a key role in operating the combined cap-lining
materials business. Simply put, this is a great fit."
