In May 2001, the Trade Publishing Division of the Taylor Publishing Company was purchased by The Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group.

The Trade Publishing Division, founded in 1980, is a publisher of non-fiction adult hardcover, trade paperbacks and juvenile books. It publishes a mix of hard and soft cover trade books including 4-color illustrated books. The Division was recognized as one of the leading publishers of retail books in the South.

Dallas-based Taylor Publishing Company, the parent of the Trade Publishing Division, is a leading publisher of high school and college yearbooks. It early 2000, it was acquired by Castle Harlan Inc., a leading New York-based private equity firm, and merged with another Castle Harlan company, Commemorative Brands, making it a leading company selling commemorative products to the scholastic markets.

The Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group of Lanham, Maryland, will integrate the Taylor Trade Publishing Division titles into its Cooper Square Press publishing program in its New York City office and distributed them through National Book Network (NBN), its wholly-owned subsidiary.
